What to expect during the school year?

    1. Agendas/Planners:
      1. Each student will be provided with a personal agenda/planner to be used for school. This agenda will be a way for parents to see homework, upcoming events, and projects that will be happening throughout the year.
      2. I genuinely believe that communication is the key to a great parent-teacher relationship. Please sign the agenda every week; no later than Friday each week, and respond to written communications as promptly as possible. The agenda is a great way to communicate missing assignments and other information that may be needed.

                                                                  i.      If there is a situation where someone other than the parent or guardian can not sign the agenda and there is a need for another signature from an older sibling, babysitter, or other extended family member to sign the agenda/planner, please inform me prior to the situation who is allowed to sign the agenda in your absence.

    1. Homework:
      1. Your child will be accountable for writing homework assignments and keeping track of upcoming tests in his or her agenda.

                                                                  i.      There will be a homework board in the back of the classroom where the homework will be posted daily and be up for the entire week.

      1. Missing assignment sheets will go home if homework is not turned in on time. These need to be filled out by your child, signed by the parent/guardian, and returned to school.

                                                                  i.      Your child will have 2 days to turn in homework in after the due date; unless other arrangements have been made and agreed upon. Each day that it is late the student≠s will lose 25% of their grade each day until they are at 50%. After that 2nd day the work will no longer be accepted.

ii.      If your child is absent they have the number of days plus one day that they are absent to complete the assignment. If there is extenuating circumstances and your child is absent for a longer amount of time arrangements can be made to make sure that he or she is caught up on the work that is missing.

    1. Grading:
      1. All grades will be entered on Powerschools© no later than one week after the due date.

                                                                  i.      You will receive a letter with your student≠s log on information for Powerschools© from their homeroom teacher. If you do not receive this please contact Cindy Turner in the front office in person.

    1. Discipline:
      1. Your child will be responsible for following the school and district guidelines. (Please see student handbook that are sent out on the 1st day of school.)
      2. In room 312, students will be responsible for their own behavior. Your child will be given an opportunity to reflect their behavior in a private place for a few minutes to gather their thoughts and get ready to come back to the class.
        1.  Student's behavior will be documented and recorded for the students records. Parents will also receive a form that the students will be responsible for filling out during the school day. A parent signature will be required and the form will need to be returned to school the following day. A copy of the form will be sent home for your records once the sign form is returned.
        2. Phone calls and/or emails will be received if the student's behavior is reoccurring.
